Blink-182 founder Tom Delonge has rubbished reports that he left the seminal pop-punk band to focus on his multimedia franchise Sekret Machines and is in fact in talk with the group about recording and touring.

In a recent interview with Mic, the Angels & Airwaves frontman addressed speculation that he left the band early last year to work on projects that include novels, comics and feature films in favor of Blink.

"Well it's not so much about Blink. It's about what I'm doing with my life now," Delonge said.

"I can't tour nine months out of the year with enough time to do the enormity of what I'm setting out to do."

Earlier today, the 40-year-old musician urged his fans to ignore reports regarding his comments.

"Don't believe the media, ridiculous articles saying I quit blink over my work with Government on Sekret Machines Project. Not true."

Soon after Delonge posted to his Instagram, claiming that he is currently talking with Blink drummer Travis Barker about recording and touring.

"Quitting the band to search for UFOs? Hahhaha WTF is wrong with you media," the post reads.

"I'm actually talking to Travis about recording and touring with blink right now, not quitting... Never did quit, remember? But- Am I currently working with people in the Government? YES. Including leadership from DOD, Intelligence and Executive Branch? YES."

The singer is currently working on a documentary that will look at all his work with Blink, Boxcar Racer, AVA and other projects.

"Just wait for the Documentary before you write or consider stupid headlines," the post continues.

"It's a serious topic that has far reaching National Security implications, and must be rolled out respectfully, and patiently. It has nothing to do with the band."

Delonge's comments come just weeks out from the release of Blink's seventh studio album Caifornia — the first to not include Delonge and also the first to feature new recruit, Matt Skiba.

In April, Delonge said he sees a future with Blink and last month, Barker confirmed they talk on a "weekly basis".

California is set for release on 1 June.
