It's safe to say this week's music headlines were stolen by the first installment of the Harvest Festival line up, which had tongues a-waggin' and fingers a-twitterin' upon its announcement on Thursday afternoon. The response thus far seems to have been overwhelmingly positive so punters would be wise to start saving their pennies so they won't miss out on tickets to the boutique event.

It's not a week in Australian music with some form of Gotye story, this week's was a little sad though. The poor bastard has been knocked off the top of the Billboard Singles Charts, which he has sat atop for the past eight weeks with Sombody That I Used To Know.

We had some other sad things to report this week, like the passing of Australian jazz legend Graeme Bell at the age of 97, the owners of The Basement are putting the venue up for sale and The Beautiful Girls have decided to call it a day after a most triumphant decade in the sun.

Plenty of not so sad stories cropped up as well though, Missy Higgins made a romping return to the world of music with her new record entering the charts no lower than the number one position.

We had a bit of a laugh as Billy Corgan used the term “fat cunt” to one of our writers.

We laughed even harder when The Stone Roses' Ian Brown called Reni a cunt.

But probably laughed hardest when we revisited our favourite Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job! moments following news of the duo's first Australian live shows happening later in the year.

The Lost Tapes collection from kosmische legends Can is incredible and strongly recommended weekly listening. While Sick Tunes has delivered a set of upbeat party numbers from bands we've never fucking heard of before.
