The rising angsty-punk royalty will make their maiden journey Down Under at the end of the year
Those of you who were bummed to hear that Modern Baseball would be postponing their Australian tour (and even those who were indifferent) can enjoy some belated consolation today with the news that punk-scene contemporaries The Hotelier have announced their first-ever run of shows around the country beginning in November this year.
The Massachusetts-bred DIY luminaries will be kicking off their tour Down Under in Perth, at The Boston, on Friday 27 November, with local punk princes Dan Cribb & The Isolated, with two further WA shows — Bunbury's Prince Of Wales (28 November) and The Newport, in Fremantle (29 November) — before stalwart locals Ceres take over support duties for the remainder of the tour, starting in Launceston, at Club 54, on Wednesday 2 December. From there, the pair of acts take their frenetic live show to Adelaide (Enigma Bar, 3 December), Melbourne (Reverence Hotel, 4 December; Wrangler Studios, 5 December, AA), Wollongong (Rad Bar, 8 December), Sydney (Black Wire Records, 9 December, AA; 10 December, Factory Floor), Newcastle (Hamilton Station Hotel, 11 December), and Brisbane (Crowbar, 12 December; 38 Berwick, 13 December, under-18s).
The Hotelier formed in 2009 under the name The Hotel Year, changing their name to its present iteration sometime before the release of their 2011 debut full-length, It Never Goes Out. It was with last year's Home, Like NoPlace Is There, however, that the band truly broke through to wider renown, the album ending up on writers' end-of-year lists from coast to coast. Following a meeting with Aussie punk royalty The Smith Street Band at a German festival, the band is set to see their lofty dreams of an antipodean sojourn come true in a matter of months — as well as those of their dedicated fans.
"From the first time I was in a band, the idea of going to Australia has always been something, for the most part, that has seemed unreachable," guitarist Chris Hoffman said in a statement. "Now that it is happening, it's a goal and achievement that feels a long time coming."

"When we were in Europe, we met the members of The Smith Street Band and it was their idea to make this all happen, so we have no idea what to expect when we go there," he continued.
On the other side of the coin, fans can expect the ferocious live energy for which The Hotelier's shows have become renowned — as well as their favourite cuts from previous releases as well as some sneaky previews from the band's forthcoming third album, for which they have just finished tracking.
Tickets for The Hotelier's maiden Australian tour go on sale from 9am (local time) this coming Tuesday, 8 September. See theGuide or check The Music App for more information.
