The Gov takes out the award for the fourth year running
For the fourth year running, Adelaide venue The Gov has taken out Best Live Music Venue at the 2014 SA Hotels Awards.
Run by The Australian Hotels Association and held last night at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, it’s the seventh time the venue has won the award since 2007, missing out in 2011 due to their admission into the AHA Hall Of Fame.
“Everyone at The Gov is proud of this award, as recognition of our ongoing commitment to live music in South Australia,” hotel owner Melissa Tonkin said in a statement this morning.
“This pub lives and breathes live music, and we will continue to provide music lovers everywhere the best live experience this State has to offer.”

We can’t argue with that. Check out some of our favourite gigs there this year:
“The quartet dove straight into their Hungry Ghost record with a raucous energy that the crowd dealt back tenfold. A highlight saw the band giving a salute of sorts to the current Prime Minister, before playing their breakout song of 2013, Covered In Chrome.”
“As dedicated fans of The Waifs know, their relationships have faced turbulent times, but at the end of the day their shared passion for music brought the trio back together (lucky for us). So it was great to see Josh Cunningham back on stage 'swooning' the crowd with his magnificent beard, with Adelaide boy David Macdonald joining them on drums for their sold out show at The Gov.”
“As they played through their set, they drew the crowd in further and further. As they progressed on through the next eras of their show the crowd became more enthused as the more recognisable songs were played.”
