Teddy Swims fans and viewers ready to tune into this weekend’s NRL Grand Final can be assured that the American singer is in Australia.
As the Daily Mail reports, Swims landed at the Sydney International Airport on Thursday (2 October) ahead of his headline performance at the NRL Grand Final, held at Sydney’s Accor Stadium this Sunday (5 October).
Fears have been surrounding the singer’s upcoming performance on the NRL’s big day over the last week, as he cancelled two shows in Hawaii that were set to take place last weekend due to vocal issues.
When he cancelled his tour dates in Hawaii, Swims took to his Instagram Stories and wrote, “My doctor has not cleared me to sing, and I need a little more time to recover before I can give you the show you deserve.”
He added, “I hate to disappoint you and truly apologise for letting you down. Thank you for your love, patience, and understanding. I can’t wait until I’m back and able to sing for you again.”
However, according to NRL CEO Andrew Abdo, Swims has made a “great recovery.”

“We had confirmation that he's making a great recovery, and his voice is in great shape, so he’ll be good for Sunday,” Abdo said yesterday, per Nine.
Earlier this week, the NRL’s General Manager for Media and Communications, Glenn Jackson, confirmed that Swims would “absolutely” take to the stage this weekend.
Upon being announced as the NRL Grand Final headline performer last month, Swims said, “I am so excited to be performing at the 2025 NRL Grand Final!
“Australia has always been a second home to me. Every time I am there, I am overwhelmed by how welcoming the people are, I fall more in love with the culture, and just everything about it. So, to be welcomed to perform one of the biggest nights in Australia is a huge honour.”
Swims will launch his highly anticipated Australian arena tour next Tuesday (7 October), warming up expectations with his performance at the NRL Grand Final. Due to demand, extra shows have been added in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
In addition to his upcoming performances, Swims will present a keynote at this year’s SXSW Sydney music industry event.
