Courtney Barnett not too far behind as well

More Tame Impala More Tame Impala

Aussie globetrotters and dominating forces Tame Impala and Courtney Barnett have been named in the top ten of Q Magazine’s Top 50 Albums Of 2015.

With both dropping critically acclaimed and chart topping records earlier this year, Tame Impala topped the list while Barnett landed at number six.

Tame Impala’s third record, Currents, dropped in July, debuting at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and landed in the top 5 of the UK and US charts.

Barnett’s Sometimes I Sit And Think, Sometimes I Just Sit saw her embark on a global quest, making waves on US talk shows and festivals – much like the aforementioned WA rockers.

Q, one of UK's biggest music magazines, ranked Tame Impala ahead of Julia Holter's Have You In My Wilderness (#2); Jamie xx's In Colour (#3); Blur's The Magic Whip (#4) and New Order's Music Complete (#5).

Listed behind Barnett in the top ten are: B'lieve I'm Gone — Kurt Vile (#7); Short Movie — Laura Marling (#8); To Pimp A Butterfly — Kendrick Lamar (#9); How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful — Florence + The Machine (#10).

Tame Impala and Barnett are both up for a wealth of ARIA awards, the results of which will be revealed tomorrow.
