The Argyle located in Sydney’s The Rocks took to social media to announce that after 17 years, they will be closing up shop.
The Argyle has been operating since 2007, becoming the first nightclub experience for an entire generation of keen and eager young punters. Over the years, they’ve successfully hosted major events that have highlighted Sydney’s exuberant nightlife to the core.
Writing on Instagram, the club said: “For nearly TWO DECADES, we’ve been the backdrop to some of Sydney’s biggest and most EPIC nights. From local legends to multi-platinum international artists, we’ve partied with the best, and none of it would’ve been possible without YOU!”.

The closure is a tough blow to the already scattered and unpredictable future of Sydney’s nightlife, with hospitality giant Hunter St. Hospitality and Pacific Concepts enforcing the closure as part of changes under the direction of the newly appointed chief executive Frank Tucker. The company also owns Rockpool Bar & Girl, Sake and The Bavarian.
While the news has come with deep sadness from revellers who have spent many nights partying inside The Argyle, all is not lost. The nightclub has promised they have “stacked the calendar with MAMMOTH events” as part of a series of events they are hosting before they officially close. They’ll kick off their closing series with a night hosted by Aussie DJ and artist Havana Brown this weekend.
The festivities will carry on until New Year’s Eve, which will be the nightclub's final night of trade. Still they’ve promised an absolute heater of a New Year’s Eve party and send-off, offering music on three different stages: Aussie R&B and hip hop courtesy of the beloved Timomatic and William Singe on the RNB Super Club Stage, house, dance and EDM bangers plus cannons, lasers, strobes and dancers courtesy of Frankie Romano and friends on the Main Stage and house and techno by Carisen and friends at the Rave Cave.
If you’re excited to get amongst the noise and want to ring in the final countdown on the final night of The Argyle’s operations, more details can be found here.
