It’s been a long time coming, but a landmark familial collaboration has finally taken place, with Swanee joining forces with his brothers for the new track, Brother Of Mine.
The track, which is featured on Swanee’s (aka John Swan) latest album, Believe, has received its official single release today, September 26th.
While Believe was released on August 1st as a physical item via Songland Records, both the record and any singles have been absent from streaming services so as to ensure more money goes toward Swanee himself.
Believe is an undeniable snapshot of the power of collaboration, featuring iconic names such as Jon Stevens, Colin Hay, Diesel, Joe Camilleri, Wendy Matthews, Russell Morris, Dave Gleeson, Rick Springfield, Jack Jones, Ian Moss, Steve Kipner, Tommy Emmanuel, and Kevin Borich.
It’s also a special familial undertaking as well, including niece Mahalia Barnes, and brothers Jimmy Barnes and Alan Barnes. While both brothers feature on tracks on the record, there’s one song that unites all three brothers musically for the first time ever – the aptly-titled Brother Of Mine.
“We have never actually recorded together… and now that we finally have, it’s an amazing feeling,” Alan explains. “It’s something that I have always wanted to do since the day I first started to sing, looking up to and respecting both of my big brothers because they have both influenced me to be the kind of singer that I am now.”

As Swanee explains, Brother Of Mine was the impetus for his new record, with the track serving as an opportunity for the long-awaited famillial collaboration, and ultimately kickstarting the creative process.
“This song is the reason Believe was made,” Swanee confirms. “It brought us together in a way we’ve never done before — not just as brothers, but as artists sharing the same space, telling our story.”
Swanee’s Believe is being sold as a 16-track CD and double LP, via Songland Records and Swanee’s website, where you can also listen to a minute of each track.
