Face the music's first announcement

Cult punk icon Steve Albini has been revealed as one of the international keynote speakers for this year’s Face The Music conference event in Melbourne.

A guest of both Face The Music, which The Music and theMusic.com.au are media partners of, and Melbourne Music Week, Albini is a legend of the alternative music world for his band Shellac, his work as an engineer (Nirvana, Pixies, our own My Disco) and his wider involvement as a music advocate.

As well as Albini, the not-for-profit event has announced its first round of local speakers, which includes representatives from Artist Voice, Sounds Australia, Association Of Artist Managers (AAM), Moshtix and APRA AMCOS. In total, there will be over 100 speakers.

Music Victoria Hall Of Fame inductees Daddy Cool will also come together to discuss their career on stage. Their achievements - and those of fellow Hall Of Fame inductee journalist Ed Nimmervoll - will be brought to life in a photography exhibition presented by Arts Centre Melbourne.
