5 Artists You Can See For FREE at SPRINGTIME Festival This September

Ninajirachi
Almost a year ago, we sat down with Eora-based glitch-pop producer Nina Wilson, AKA Ninajirachi, as she prepared to kick off proceedings for the Sydney Opera House’s contemporary music film series ‘Liminal’; chatting about her relationship with performing live, music communities, advice for her younger self and the inability to tour during the pandemic. Several months on, and with live events well and truly back in full swing, the Gold Coast is finally getting their chance to catch Ninajirachi live, as she heads north to perform at Springtime Festival, armed with a string of new singles, including the glitchy, videogame-pop “Pray4U”, “Dracodraco” and latest release ‘Start Small”. In case you missed it, Ninajirachi also recently dropped the news on triple j that new music was officially on the way! If you can’t hold out until January next year when she performs at Wildlands Festival, you can catch Ninajirachi performing at 9:00pm on Saturday 03 September at SPRINGTIME.

Beckah Amani
Back in June, SPRINGTIME teamed up with the folks over at triple j Unearthed to scour the coastline for one final act to round out the festival lineup for 2022. Thanks to the due diligence of their music team, we’ve been gifted with Tanzanian-born, Gold Coast based Beckah Amani, who’ll be performing on Main Stage at SPRINGTIME on Friday 2 September.   It's been four years since Beckah Amani first introduced herself to the world with the release of her debut single “Breathe”, and has since gone on to drop a drove of incredibly soulful folk-pop tracks, which are packed with vulnerability and direct songwriting. JK-47
Since the rise of Hip Hop in New York in the 1970’s, artists like NWA, Kendrick Lamar and Public Enemy have been using their platforms for political stances and shining a light on important community values. In Australia, JK47 is waving the Indigenous flag and using his platform in a similar way. In 2020, the then 22 year old rapper released his debut LP ‘Made For This’. With the project, he stated he's "on a mission, looking to touch the minds and hearts of the Nation and the world." Sonically the record is influenced by 90’s era hip hop, with a focus on space and mood in order to convey his message of unity and personal experience. Across the tracklist he raps about fatherhood, the ongoing struggles of First Nations People and his personal mental health. Since the release of his debut EP, JK47 has continued to voice important messages and has already stamped his unique blend of Australian hip hop on the scene. Hermitude
It’s officially been three years since Blue Mountains based beatmakers Hermitude turned in their fourth studio album, Polyanarchy. And even longer since they landed on the Gold Coast. Now, the electronic duo have finally returned with their latest LP ‘Mirror Mountain’, which they’ll be armed with as they head north for Springtime Festival. Having already warmed up with a solo headline tour as well as massive slots at VIVID Festival this year, it’s hard to imagine a scenario in which Hermitudes set will be anything less than amazing. Check out the duo performing on Mirror Mountain to get a sneak peak at what you can expect at the festival.


Haiku Hands
Last - but far from least - Sydney-via-Melbourne trio Haiku Hands are also going to be landing on the Gold Coast for Springtime. Since dropping their self titled 2020 LP, Haiku Hands have kept busy, with several huge singles, a North American tour and a brand new side project from Beatrice Lewis, Sky City Gold.
