The Gold Coast's new 100% free festival Springtime has expanded, adding a bunch of new acts, art and a pop-up skate plaza to the already stacked program.

Just over a month out from Springtime, the festival that offers “no tricks, no gimmicks and no hidden fees - just free live music” continues to live up to its tagline. Joining the more than 20 artists already announced for the festival are multi-instrumentalist producer and vocalist Hauskey, Wollongong-based dream-rock artist Aodhan, and local DJ Sh#t Shirt Disco who will bring his saucy mix of House and Disco to the beach.

Euphoric indie-pop artist Lily Papas will be performing at the Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMAs), as part of the Springtime program as well as locally based producers, songwriters and DJs MAD SNAX, who will be hitting the decks at the GCMAs’ afterparty.

The newly announced artists will join a who's who of Aussie music for a good time on the Gold Coast with Skegss, Thelma Plum, Hermitude (djs), JK-47, Haiku Hands, Alex The Astronaut, Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers, leading the pack. Springtime will also welcome one lucky local artist to the lineup, as part of the Springtime x triple j Unearthed comp which ran throughout June and July.

Connecting the festival’s two beach stages will be the Springtime Skate Plaza hosting some of Australia’s top skaters rolling around on some fun purpose-built obstacles along the foreshore. Australian & New Zealand skaters Tommy Fynn, Nixen Osborne, Mike Lawry and more will showcase their skateboarding wizardry alongside locals from PRECINCT and Brisbane’s PARLIAMENT skate shops, unleashing on custom planter boxes, ledges, kickers, china banks, slappy curbs and more.

Live mural painting will add a splash of colour to Surfers Paradise with festival goers able to watch in real-time as local artists paint their version of Springtime.

An interactive durational performance installation will complete the festival’s art offering. Created by multi-award-winning contemporary performance makers, Shock Therapy productions, The Cleaners promises a not-to-be-missed art experience for the whole family, with an invitation for the public to cause havoc for the cleaners with a giant slingshot and paint-filled balloons.

Festival Director Mark Duckworth said Major Events Gold Coast is excited to bring in spring with a fresh and fun all-ages music festival experience.

“Springtime is about showcasing and celebrating the music of the region alongside the country’s best while also showing off this fantastic beachside destination”.
