It's time for Coon & Friends.

It's only been a year since the release of the critically acclaimed video game South Park: The Stick Of Truth but the team at Ubisoft and South Park Digital Studios have today announced that a follow up game is in development — I'm seriously, you guys.

The new game is to be affectionately named South Park: The Fractured but Whole and will centre on the boys' superhero characters including Cartman's useless half-man, half-racoon character, The Coon.

The new installment will continue on with the theme from the award-winning The Stick Of Truth, with the gamer playing as the new kid in town who teams up with Coon & Friends to battle the underbelly of South Park.

Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will again be involved in the development of the game and Laurent Detoc, President of Ubisoft said that the announcement of the new game was built on the success of The Stick Of Truth, which included it being named as the Best Role Playing-Game at the Game's Critics Awards.

"By successfully mixing outstanding comedy with excellent gameplay, South Park: The Stick of Truth created a game genre: the Comedy Role-Playing Game,” said Detoc.

“Our teams worked hard, laughed hard, and players loved it so we’re back to collaborate on the fantastic world created by Matt, Trey and the talented group at South Park Digital Studios with South Park: The Fractured but Whole.”

Of course being a product of the South Park world, The Stick Of Truth was not released in Australia without controversy.

Some scenes and gameplay were removed upon its national release because the Australian Classification Board refused to rate the game due to the depiction of sexual violence.

No release date has been announced for the sequel as yet but it will be available on the Xbox One and PS4 consoles, as well as PC.
