Sorry Swifties, Looks Like Taylor Swift's Aus Tour Will Be VERY Short

Taylor Swift’s Eras Australian tour – when it actually touches down here – is expected to be a short one, only stopping in Sydney and Melbourne.

According to sources speaking to the Courier Mail via (The Daily Mail), a handful of dates are expected to take place in early 2024. Swift is tipped to perform in Melbourne and Sydney before heading to New Zealand for a date in Auckland. If these reports are true, it’s devastating for fans living in the rest of the country.

In March, leaked reports suggested that Swift has already booked in a 2024 date at the MCG. An anonymous MCG worker revealed to the popular Melbourne-based podcast, Shameless, that Taylor Swift would perform at the venue.

The anonymous poster uploaded a selfie (blocking their eyes with the caption) and wrote, “Hush Hush but I work for the MCG and dates have been booked in for Taylor.”

US gossip account Deux Moi also caught on, with its Twitter account sharing: “Dates have been booked for Taylor at the MCG in Melbourne, Aus. So she’s definitely coming to Australia!”

One fan commented, “checks out. Accor arena in syd randomly posted a photo of her the other day out of the blue so they must be gearing up to drop dates.”

Swift’s epic three-hour, 44-song setlists for the Eras tour made headlines in March, with the Anti-Hero singer running through all ten of her albums for shows living up to their name.

The marathon concerts saw Swift open with a string of hits from Lover, including the fan-favourite Cruel Summer. From there, she launched into Fearless, with Love Story, You Belong With Me and the title track - the latter of which she hadn’t performed in over a decade.

She also performed the 10-minute version of All Too Well. She closed the set with tracks from her newest album, Midnights, including Lavender Haze, Anti-Hero, Midnight Rain, Vigilante Shit, Bejeweled, Mastermind, and Karma.

Midnights has done incredible numbers in the charts, smashing the single-day streaming record for an album with 184.6 million streams on Spotify and single-handedly raising the vinyl record sales in the UK for the first time in 35 years.

Swift features on The Alcott, the newest single on The National's latest album, First Two Pages Of Frankenstein. 

“Matt [Berninger, vocals] wrote the main part of the song to some music I had written which Taylor had heard and I knew liked, so I thought it might be something she would really click with,” Swift's collaborator and The National’s Aaron Dessner explained about The Alcott. 

“I sent it to her, and was a little nervous as I didn't hear back for 20 minutes or so. By the time she responded, Taylor had written all her parts and recorded a voice memo with the lyrics she’d added in a dialogue with Matt, and everyone fell immediately in love with it. It felt meant to be."
