British anonymous metal collective Sleep Token have just charted in Australia for the first time, with their third LP, Take Me Back To Eden, released last week (Friday, 19 May) landing at #3 on Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart.
As well as making an impressive debut on the Albums Chart, Sleep Token have taken the top spot on the Vinyl Chart, beating SZA’s SOS, and another three debuts in The Vanns’ Last Of Your Kind, Bad//Dreems HOO HA!, and Lewis Capaldi’s Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent.
Take Me Back To Eden has also debuted at #3 in the UK, #4 in Scotland, #5 in Germany, and #12 in New Zealand.
Sleep Token’s fusion of heavy metal, electronica, hip-hop, and modern-day djent/progressive metal music has made them extremely popular amongst metal and rock fans, while the quick succession of singles Chokehold and The Summoning (5 and 6 January 2023) and Granite and Aqua Regia (19 and 20 January 2023) significantly raised the band’s profile, taking them from “less than 300,000 monthly listeners on Spotify at the beginning of January" to more than 1.58 million by the end of the month, per Loudwire.
Take Me Back To Eden was officially announced on 16 February 2023 with the release of the fifth single from the album, Vore.
The album comprises 12 tracks and runs for 63 minutes; the previously released tracks Chokehold, The Summoning, Granite, Aqua Regia, Vore, and the freshly released single, the poppier DYWTYLM, are on the tracklist.

Like all things Sleep Token, the album was announced without fanfare on social media. The band simply posted, "Take Me Back To Eden May 19th," followed by a teaser to their fifth new single, Vore, and the command to "Worship".
Through the 24 Hundred webstore, Aussie fans could purchase different t-shirts from the UK store, scarves, socks, beanies, flags, stickers, keychains, and vinyl slipmats, as well as multiple vinyl variants – only the black vinyl is still available; all coloured variants are sold out, which surely led to the band’s incredible achievement on the ARIA Charts.
