More San Cisco More San Cisco

Perth indie-pop kids San Cisco have signed a label deal with Fat Possum/RCA Records for all territories outside of Australia and New Zealand.

The band – who gained notoriety with their single Awkward – are the first band local to sign to the esteemed Fat Possum label, who have partnered with RCA Records for the release of the band's upcoming debut album as well an EP compilation.

In Australia San Cisco will release the album through their own label Island City Records, with distribution from MGM.

In a joint statement the young band said, “We are pumped to sign to Fat Possum and RCA. When we spoke on the phone to [Fat Possum founder] Matt Johnson and he asked us to take some fucked up press photos we knew we were making the right choice! It's exciting to know we will be sharing these labels with bands like Friends, Spiritualized, The Strokes and Kings Of Leon.”

The band are expected to start their international assault on the back of this global deal.

Johnson said the label were “really excited” about their first Australian signing.

Fat Possum is renowned for its blues, rock and hip hop acts, most notoriously The Black Keys, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Al Green, The Felice Brothers and Townes Van Zandt, amongst others.

San Cisco's debut album will be released Friday 23 November, with the first single due October.
