Appearing this December!

Australia's Ruby Rose is confirmed to star on the US' CW network this year in the iconic role of Batwoman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Melbourne-born actress and DJ will first appear this December in the annual DC crossover event with CW shows, The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and Legends Of Tomorrow.

The Batwoman series, currently in development, is based on "Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence.

"But don't call her a hero yet — in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope."

The script for the series is being written by Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries, Smallville).

Rose's casting comes after her stint in Orange Is The New Black and Pitch Perfect 3, as well as The Meg, due out in Australia this month.

Meanwhile, speaking to The Music earlier this year, Arrow star Stephen Amell discussed the strong shows CW boasts such as The Flash and Supergirl and his hopes for the seventh season when it airs this October.

“We have a new showrunner this year, Beth Schwartz, who’s been with the show since season one,” Amell said.

"[The writers] have a very clear vision of what they want season seven to be, and what I asked them to do – and it’s not up to me – but what I asked of them is to not just assume that we have an eighth season. I wanted them to write like, ‘If you have a good idea, and you have something you’ve always wanted to do or see on the show, then just do it! Do it right now!’

"I think that’s one of the things I’m getting out of what they’ve planned for season seven – we’re not writing like we’re guaranteed something beyond this, because we’re not; nobody is. I want them to really push forward and take the fact we have a certain license and a certain respect from the fans to take some chances."
