Fans who saw Rod Stewart in Utah last week walked away concerned after the British music legend almost fainted and required an oxygen tank to get through the show.

Billboard and TMZ report that Stewart, now 82 years old, paused his show at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City on Friday (19 June) and looked visibly unwell on stage.

Stewart was seen to double over in discomfort, needing an oxygen tank to assist with his breathing. Billboard notes that after he got through performing the hit song Young Turks, Stewart appeared to struggle on stage, leaning on equipment around the stage, before his crew backstage brought him an oxygen tank.

Later in the show, Stewart admitted that he had nearly fainted, but the “show must go on.” He then quipped, “Would you mind if I sat down for this one?” and continued to perform.

Billboard notes that Stewart concluded Friday night’s performance while sitting down. TMZ also reported that West Valley City is located approximately 4,300 feet above sea level, which may have contributed to Stewart’s on-stage wooziness.

Last month, Stewart hinted towards plans to embark on a final UK tour before calling it quits on life on the road.

During an interview with talkSPORT, the singer said, “I’ve got 40-odd shows this year, and that’s not really a lot.

“And I’m touring the UK next year and doing the O2, and that will probably be it, I think. I’ll have to do something new… come on your show more often.”

However, that wasn’t the first time that he discussed the end of his touring career. In November 2024, Stewart indicated that he’d be finishing up “large-scale” tours.

“This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire,” he said at the time.

Stewart continued, “I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
