In March, Ricki-Lee dropped her empowerment anthem, On My Own, and signalled the beginning of her independent career.

Today, she announces that On My Own, the album, will land on Friday, 8 March, and release a new single, Ghost, following the title track and Point Of No Return.

The ARIA-nominated artist said about her first new album in ten years, “Over the last 18 months, I have poured my absolute everything into this album, and without a doubt, it’s my best work to date; I’ve never been prouder.” You can pre-order/pre-save the album here, with vinyl options available.

“This album has been a LONG time coming…I’ve been working on it for two years, and it’s my first album in TEN years!!! I am OBSESSED with it; these songs are so special to me & I know you’re gonna love them,” Ricki-Lee wrote on Instagram this morning.

Ghost came out at midnight & it’s already #1 … I only just woke up, but I’m pretty sure today is the best bday ever!”

Her new music was written and produced alongside lauded Australian production duo DNA – together with the announcement that she had founded her own record label: “I’m literally doing it On My Own through my own label and owning my own masters,” Ricki-Lee said in a recent The Music interview.

Ricki-Lee added about Ghost, “I wrote the song about being ghosted. We’ve all been there, and it’s such a weird and frustrating thing to go through because you never really get any closure. It was actually a difficult song for me to write because it’s about losing someone I was extremely close to. One minute, they were a huge part of my life, and the next day, they were gone. It was like they died… but they didn’t… they just vanished out of my life one day.”

She continued, “I was heartbroken. And what makes it worse is that we live in a world where social media keeps everyone connected – but sometimes it’s more like you’re being haunted by the person who ghosted you when you see their face popping up in your DM’s and watching everything you’re doing.”
