RAC Arena has announced the return of its coveted Limelight Music Support Fund for 2024, offering the opportunity for several lucky emerging Western Australian musicians to receive support for their creative endeavours.

In its third consecutive year, Limelight presents an extensive support package worth over $20,000 for one primary winner, which includes financial aid, recording and rehearsal time, a promotional campaign, and even a paid slot in the WAMFest’s 2025 lineup, alongside opportunities to shine on RAC Arena’s live stage.

This prize package has increased significantly since the initiative’s launch, promising budding musicians a prize pack worth fourfold what it was previously. The initiative, aimed at empowering local talent, will also award two runners-up a minor package valued at $3,000 each.

To apply, musicians must submit a pitch for a music project they’d like to pursue in 2025, whether that be an album, a string or singles, or even performances.

Musicians will be required to detail how they would utilise the support fund, and the anticipated career benefits that they’d receive from this support.

Applications close on November 25, 2024, at 9 a.m. AWST, and the winners will be selected by a panel of local and interstate industry experts, including professionals from RAC Arena, 360 Artist Logistics, RTRFM, and TEG Dainty.

Supported by West Australian Music (WAM), Limelight showcases RAC Arena’s commitment to fostering Western Australian talent.

Past recipients include Angie Colman and runners up Riley Pearce, and Those Who Dream for 2023’s prize, and Alter Boy taking out the top prize in 2022.
