Ex-Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri has reunited with his former bandmates to record vocals on a new QOTSA track.

Oliveri broke the news via the Facebook page for his other band Mondo Generator. He also confirmed that he’s re-joined Kyuss Lives!, who are touring Australia next year as part of the Soundwave festival.

The last time Oliveri appeared on a QOTSA album was back in 2002 on the band’s breakthrough, Songs For The Deaf. Two years later he was fired from the band following allegations of domestic violence ( as previously reported, he also managed to avoid jail time earlier this year following an arrest in 2011 on drug and firearms offences).

In addition to Oliveri’s involvement, the follow-up to 2007’s Era Vulgaris will reportedly feature Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl on drums (who also played on Songs For The Deaf) and a contribution from Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor.

The new as-yet-untitled Queens Of The Stone Age album is set for release in 2013.
