NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian spoke this morning.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian says that social distancing is "more important this weekend" as pubs, cafes and restaurants across the state reopen from Friday.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Berejiklian confirmed that pubs and clubs "now fall into the same category as restaurants and cafes" and can reopen tomorrow but will only be allowed to host ten customers at a time.

"The industry has been very, very productive and constructive during these discussions," Berejiklian said.

She added, "It's more important over this weekend than last weekend to maintain social distancing because there'll be more people out and about.

"For the first time in a long time, people will be out of the house for recreation purposes."

The news comes after Prime Minister Scott Morrison unveiled the Government's three-step plan to get Australia back to a "COVID-safe economy" last week, saying at the time, "Pubs and clubs, with some restrictions, will be open."
