The 50-person limit on pubs and venues across New South Wales will be scrapped from 1 July, while restrictions will be eased in Victoria from next week. 

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian confirmed the news on Sunday, with the number of people allowed inside indoor venues to be "determined by the ‘one person per 4 square metre’ rule, with no upper limit", however all activity must be seated only.

“The community has worked incredibly hard over the past few months which has allowed us to be where we are today,” Berejiklian said.

“However we can’t let our guard down. People need to come forward for testing with the mildest of symptoms and practise good hand hygiene and social distancing.”

Meanwhile in Victoria, pubs and clubs, as well as concert venues, cinemas and theatres, will be allowed to host up to 50 seated people from next Monday.

"As always, timing on any future changes remains subject to the advice of our Chief Health Officer," Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said in a statement.

"Because as far as we’ve come – it’s not over yet.

"And for every small step we take, our own personal responsibility grows."
