Jarreau Vandal on It Came From The Cloud for PS Radio
Another week means more Soundcloud gems to dive into and we're here to pick out the best tunes just for you. This time for our instalment of It Came From The Cloud we're homing in on the producer/DJ extordinaire Jarreau Vandal and his latest VANDALIZED tape.
In case you're uninitiated, It Came From The Cloud is our bi-weekly radio segment where our expert SC trawlers grab a beat and give it a little showcase.
Straight out of Amsterdam, Jarreau Vandal has been knocking about for a minute. Known for his soulful sonic palette that genre-hops from jazz to bass to baile funk and everything in between, Mr. Vandal is just as proficient a producer and DJ as he is a graff artist.
Apart from his killer singles (such as this year's 'Someone That You Love' ft. Olivia Nelson), you may have heard Jarreau's work in other places through his club-ready VANDALIZED series. Taking many popular tracks and putting his stamp on them, the VANDALIZED series of edit tapes is truly a DJ's best friend - and that statement continues to ring true with the release of volume three of his collection.

In Jarreau Vandal's latest offering, you'll find funky re-rubs of tunes from Travi$ Scott, Future, Childish Gambino, even a juke edit of Playboi Carti's viral hit 'Magnolia' plus many, many more. One of my favourites from this release is titled 'Chamber of Alcohol' and is a certified house party heater.
Okay, so let's deconstruct this piece of art as there's a lot of elements to it that makes the track so damn good.
First of all, the acapella comes from Jamie Foxx and T-Pain's 2008 masterwork 'Blame It' placed over Shigeo Sekito's 1975 track 'The Word II' - a track you may recognise that was also sampled by Mac Demarco in his song 'Chamber of Reflection'.
Add a dancehall tinge to all those pieces and you get 'Chamber of Alcohol' by Jarreau Vandal, a humble edit that will become a summertime playlist essential in no time.
