Private Function Added As Local Support For Green Day Tour
Green Day and AFI will be joined by none other than Melbourne's Private Function for their upcoming Aussie dates.

Naarm/Melbourne punk outfit Private Function are hitting stadiums around the country next month, with the band being announced as the local openers for Green Day’s upcoming Australian tour.
The band were added to the forthcoming shows on Wednesday, February 12th, joining AFI as the tour’s special guests.
The tour will see Private Function kicking off the events at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on March 1st, Sydney’s Engie Stadium on March 3rd, and Gold Coast’s CBUS Super Stadium on March 5th.
“Experience PF the way it was meant to be heard,” the band said on social media. “In a stadium.”
The upcoming tour will feature Green Day performing their career-defining records Dookie and American Idiot in their entirety, and will mark their first visit to the country since 2017. Likewise, AFI’s appearance will also be their first trip to Australia in eight years.

The addition of Private Function onto the lineup should come as no surprise to fans of the band. After nine years as one of the most explosive and frenetic bands on the local scene, Private Function have performed numerous headline tours of the country, and will be returning to Europe once again in the middle of 2025.
The band released their debut album, St. Anger, in 2019, adopting the title of Metallica’s divisive 2003 record for the title. In 2020, the band followed it up with Whose Line Is It Anyway?, famously packing bags of a mysterious white powder into limited vinyl copies of the record.
In 2023, following a slight lineup shift, the band returned with 370HSSV 0773H, which famously included a scratch-and-win competition on its front cover, drawing the ire of South Australian government in the process. They also issues a limited liquid-filled version of the record, which included the band’s own urine in the package.
