The Music chooses one song every week as its Power Pick, shining a light on ONE Aussie song that we think has the potential to be the next big Australian chart hit.

Our Power Pick committee consists of Richard Kingsmill (consultant and former triple j Group Music Director), Maddy Rowe (Nova nights announcer), Nic Kelly (Hit Network nights announcer), Ash McGregor (host of Listen Up with Ash McGregor), Kent “Smallzy” Small (Host of ‘The Smallzy Show’ on the Kiis Network), Irene Hulme (radio consultant and host of Game Changers Radio podcast) and Ollie Wards (ex-Head of Music for TikTok Australia).

If you’ve found yourself looking at the airwaves in recent months, there’s likely a very good chance that the name Sonny Fodera has come across your radar.

It’s hardly a surprise, either. After all, the success of his track Think About Us saw it become the first local cut to top the Radio Monitor Hot 100 chart since 2024 when it ascended to the penthouse in February.

Since then, Fodera has just continued dropping bangers, including My Loving, which was a previous Power Pick in March.

Now, he’s dropped his latest album, and with it, a new fresh favourite.

Releasing the record can we do it all again? last Friday, its arrival was complemented by the inclusion of Feel Again, the album opener and prime example of how Fodera manages to not only curate a killer vibe on every cut he drops, but how he seems entirely unable to not release single-worthy tracks at every turn.

Announcing the record back in March, Fodera explained that the new LP was the result of five years between albums, with only growing support, attention, and milestones occurring in the interim.

“This is from me, for you – for everyone who has been listening, streaming, connecting, downloading, supporting and has joined me on this journey,” he explained. “This album has been 5 years in the making. a lot can happen in 5 years. so, can we do it all again?”

Alongside the record’s release, Fodera will be hitting up local shores in October for a run of Australian tour dates, with tickets on sale now.

CHART UPDATE

Fittingly, Fodera’s record release takes place just weeks after he vacated the role of highest-charting Aussie act on the Radio Monitor Hot 100 chart. Indeed, Josh Fawaz now holds that title, sitting at No. 4 with his Madonna flip Like A Prayer, having peaked at No. 2 just last week.

The nearest Aussie is Tame Impala's Dracula, which holds at No. 19, just before Fodera kicks off the top 20 with Think About Us.

Amy Shark's The Biggest Dick drops to No. 25, which G Flip's Bed On Fire jumps to No. 27, sending The Kid LAROI's Pieces one spot lower to No. 28. Rachael Fahim's Deep End falls to No. 30, while Kylie Minogue's Light Up jumps to No. 39.

Pacific Avenue's Working Class Hero debuts at No. 40, while Ecca Vandal closes out Aussie representation in the top 50 as VERTICAL WORLDS jumps to No. 47.

On the ARIA charts, Tame Impala’s Dracula leads the local representation as it sits at No. 8. G Flip's Bed On Fire jumps to a new peak of No. 28, while The Kid LAROI's Girls jumps back into the top 50 at No. 46.
