Power 50: Albert, Chugg, Harlow, Harvey, Wall/Gan

SPA and theMusic present the AMID Power 50, and we will be releasing the names of those who made the list in blocks of five in the lead up to the release of the 48th Australasian Music Industry Directory Tuesday 3 July. 

Here are the first five names that have made the list, along with a brief profile. Although we're not giving away the rankings yet, we can tell you that from each group of five, one made the top ten.

David Albert – Albert Group – CEO
As the fifth-generation owner of the iconic Albert Group, David Albert has taken no time in putting his own mark on the family business. His list of clientele includes Gotye, Josh Pyke and Megan Washington and the Alberts publishing house is on a signing spree at the moment. As a board member for APRA and AMCOS, Alberts stance in the industry is well respected and it is clear he is pushing the family business into the next generation.

Michael Chugg - Chugg Entertainment – Executive Chairman
When the big name artists of today's music scene hit Australia – more often than not the name Chugg is involved. Michael “Chuggi” Chugg has been at the helm of some the biggest tours to come down under, making him one of the most respected and formidable figures in the business. His list of accomplishments reach far and wide - into Broadway and West End theatre recently - and there's no hint of one of our biggest promotersslowing down.

Tony Harlow - Warner – Managing Director
Credited with breathing new life into Warner, Tony Harlow has impressed with his direction and decisions since taking over in. Striking deals with UNFD and Footstomp, Harlow has also worked hard to develop a stronger country music stable. As the future of major labels continues to be questioned, his direction will be vital.

Rae Harvey – Crucial Music – General Manager
Starting out in the business by throwing all ages, Rae Harvey has carved out an impressive resume in the years that have followed. Best known as the manager of The Living End, Harvey has also shaped the careers of 360, Children Collide and Gyroscope. She is also the co-owner of the Red Door Sounds studio and a burgeoning Twitter user.

John Wall/Ming Gan – Fuzzy – Advertising Director/Business Director
The music brains that have given us at Parklife and Field Day have had great triumph in bringing electro and house to the mainstream festival scene. Joint members of last year's BRW Rich List of Australian Entertainers, they've an undoubtable hand in shaping the nation's festival scene and provide a large economic windfall for it as well.
