The return of the travelling R&B event, Fridayz Live, began at the Brisbane Showgrounds yesterday (17 October), and seemed to go off with a bang.
With a line-up starring R&B and hip-hop royalty, including Mariah Carey, Pitbull, Wiz Khalifa, Lil Jon, Eve, Tinie Tempah, and Jordin Sparks, fans were ready for each artist to play their biggest hits and revel in a thrilling music environment.
Starting with a sold-out show, ahead of another sold-out show in Sydney tonight, the fun began at 4 pm in Brisbane. Jordin Sparks and Tinie Tempah played half-hour sets, Eve and Lil Jon performed for 45 minutes, Wiz Khalifa for an hour, and Pitbull for 90 minutes, ahead of Mariah Carey’s closing set.
Last night, Mariah Carey played her first Australian show in a decade, with classics like Fantasy, Emotions, Always Be My Baby, and We Belong Together on the set. Pitbull played his first Australian show in 13 years, Wiz Khalifa played his first in ten years, Tinie Tempah played his first in eight years, and Jordin Sparks played her first Australian show in 17 years.
At the time of publication, only Mariah Carey’s set can be viewed on setlist.fm – you can check it out below. We’ll update this article once more setlists are posted online.
Following sold-out events in Brisbane and Sydney, Fridayz Live will continue in Perth and Melbourne next week: locking in Langley Park on Friday, 24 October, and Marvel Stadium on Saturday, 25 October. Those two events are down to their final tickets – head to the Fridayz Live website to secure your tickets.
