Vast majority of punters excellently behaved at regional touring festival
Police are investigating an alleged assault at the Western Australian leg of the Groovin The Moo festival, which has proven to be a minor blemish on an otherwise excellently behaved crowds around the country.
Police have confirmed to theMusic.com.au that the assault took place at about 7.10pm at un-licensed area of the Bunbury festival. A 34-year old Perth man was knocked unconscious and suffered a swollen lip, bruising and swelling around his jaw and temple, while a police officer and security guard suffered non-serious injuries after also being assaulted. The 34-year-old was treated at the first aid site at the festival.
A 21-year-old man from Iluka will appear in court after being charged with assault public officer and disorderly conduct.
Police allege that the offender was fighting with security staff and while being searched at the Command Post the accused kick backwards, the sole of his shoe grazing a police officer's shin.

The incident was the only one of its kind among the 20,000-strong crowd, of which just 11 were allegedly detected with drugs and are set to appear in court.
At the Maitland leg of the tour in New South Wales attracted 16,500 punters earlier in the run and police praised the crowd. Describing the festival as “successful with very few incidents reported”, they conducted 120 searches during the day, with 27 people allegedly found in possession of illegal drugs and set to appear in court.
The regional touring festival had another strong year in 2014, with an excellent line-up that included Vance Joy, Parkway Drive, The Jezabels and Disclosure.
