Perth Festival 2025 is set to light up the capital city with a diverse program of free events celebrating talent from Western Australia and beyond. From visual arts and performances, and - of course - plenty of music, the festival promises a hell of a month of action for Boorloo.
Running from February 7 to March 2, highlights include Casa Musica, a vibrant riverside celebration at the East Perth Power Station featuring ARIA winner Emily Wurramara and global performances from South African, Indian, and Italian artists. By night, the Boorloo Contemporary illuminated commission will transform the power station’s walls with projections by Noongar artists Allan Yarran, Ilona McGuire, and Daniel Hansen.
The festival’s February 7th opening will feature Karla Bidi (translating to Fire Trail)—a stunning installation of light, sculpture, and soundscape inspired by Noongar traditions along the riverbank. Other standout free events include French artist Laure Prouvost’s trilogy Oui Move in You, Judith Anya Samson’s Puntawarri, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Australian debut Manifest, featuring 12 dancers and a “silent choir” of community volunteers. Noongar rapper Zero Emcee will also be performing at the festival, joining WA Youth Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO)’s production of From Be-Bop to Hip-Hop.
On March 1, Indian Ocean Sounds transforms Scarborough Beach with soul-stirring songs and traditional dance. Other highlights include Orchestra-oke at Riverside Gardens, where audiences can join Perth Symphony Orchestra for a karaoke-style concert of pop classics.
According to Perth Festival Artistic Director Anna Reece, the festival’s free program—spanning over 60 events—reflects “the incredible creativity that makes Perth truly special.”
Further details about the free events on offer are available via the Perth Festival website.
