"This was unbearable like an experimental university film project."
After nearly six long years, the Gorillaz have returned with brand new single, Hallelujah Money.
Premiering today on Uproxx Music, the song, featuring Benjamin Clementine, questions the relationship between power and corruption and was reportedly dropped intentionally on the eve of the historic event that is the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
Hallelujah Money will feature on the Gorillaz' forthcoming LP, expected to drop this year.
The public response to the track has been mixed and based on social media reaction, people simply love it or hate it.

Some fans wrote on Facebook that their expectations for the new album have dropped since the single's release.
"If this is the first single, then I'm pretty sure I know how the rest of the album will be. And that just sucks," one user said, while another wrote, "This was freaking terrible. I have been a huge fan of the Gorillaz for ever. This was unbearable like an experimental university film project".
Others were much more positive about the track.
"I love it. Love Gorillaz, love Benjamin Clementine and this is a beautiful collaboration keeping the core of both artists but combining it to make a strong song," one fan said.
"Can't wait for the album!"
It should be noted too, that the YouTube opinion is hugely positive, as the video has received nearly 38,000 likes.
