Paul McCartney has filed a lawsuit against Sony Music in a bid to reclaim his copyright on a number of The Beatles tracks.
As TMZ reports, Sony currently hold the rights to the songs, but McCartney plans to own them by by next year.
According to documents, McCartney could not get confirmation from Sony that they would transfer the rights, despite numerous attempts to do so.
The Song ATV catalog includes some of the band's classic hits including Love Me Do, All You Need Is Love and I Want to Hold Your Hand.

It is the same catalog once owned by Michael Jackson, who purchased the publishing rights in 1985 for $47.5USD million.
The purchase reportedly soured the relationship between Jackson and McCartney, after The Beatles guitarist was outbid by the King Of Pop.
The Jackson estate sold back the rights to Sony outright last year for $750USD million.
