Paul KellyIn recognition of his over 35 year contribution to the live performance industry, Australian music icon Paul Kelly has been named as this year's recipient for the JC Williamson Award.
The prestigious award has been in existence since 1998 and it is bestowed to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to Australian live entertainment and performing arts culture.
The 60-year-old Adelaide born singer will be presented with the award at the 15th annual Helpmann Awards Ceremony at Sydney's Capitol Theatre on Monday, July 27.
LPA Chief Executive, Evelyn Richardson endorsed Kelly as this year's recipient.
“Mr Kelly’s prolific career is extensive and reflects his passion and commitment to creating, performing, and producing music over more than three decades,” she said.

Kelly was equally humbled by the honour and maintained the importance of live performing.
“Live performance is the crucible, the nitty gritty, where you make mistakes and find the stuff that works. So this is an important award to be a part of. Thank you to all involved".
Other recipients in past years include John Farnham, Kylie Minogue and Barry Humphries.
The Helpmann Awards will be broadcasted live on Foxtel's newly launched channel, Foxtel Arts, from 7:30pm.
