New streaming service Paramount+ is set to feature a stack of new and rebooted content when it launches next month.

As Deadline reports, ViacomCBS' new service, confirmed to kick off in the US on 4 March, will feature a brand new show from Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and mother Virginia Hanlon Grohl based on her 2017-released book, From Cradle To Stage: Stories From The Mothers Who Rocked And Raised Rock Stars.

Grohl will direct the six-part series which will focus on relationships between famous musicians and their mothers.

President of MTV Entertainment Group, Chris McCarthy, also confirmed that live music show favourites including Unplugged and Yo! MTV Raps will return on Paramount+.

“We are thrilled to re-invent some of our most storied and impactful music franchises, including Behind the Music and Yo! MTV Raps, for Paramount+,” ViacomCBS President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, Bruce Gilmer, said.

“In addition, we will partner with some of the biggest names across the music industry to bring exclusive and unique content to the platform, such as Dave Grohl’s Cradle to Stage based on his mom’s critically-acclaimed book, and many more to come.”

Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount+ will have plenty to offer on the comedy front too, including a fifth season of Inside Amy Schumer.

The US comedian's sketch series concluded its fourth season in 2016 before Schumer moved on to other projects, however the show will return on the streaming service as five specials .

Fellow Comedy Central program Workaholics will also deliver a made-for-streaming movie after the show wrapped in 2017 after seven seasons.

Lead stars Adam Devine, Blake Anderson, Anders Holm and Kyle Newacheck are all expected to return.

If that wasn't nostalgic enough for TV fans, it has also been confirmed that iconic NBC sitcom Frasier will be rebooted, with Kelsey Grammer to return as lead star Dr Fraiser Crane.

"Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I'd like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world," Grammer said.

"I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr Frasier Crane."

A release date for the new season is yet to be confirmed.

"Frasier is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling," CBS Studios president David Stapf said.

"There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from [writers Joe Cristalli, Chris Harris] and Kelsey.

"We can't wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount +."

A ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand spokesperson told The Music today, “ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand can confirm its rebranded streaming service Paramount+ will launch in Australia mid-year."
