Oasis are “shocked and saddened” after a fan fell to his death at the band’s show at Wembley Stadium on Saturday (2 August).

The Associated Press and The Guardian report that a man in his 40s was pronounced dead on the scene after suffering “injuries consistent with a fall” at approximately 10:20 pm – right as the concert was ending.

According to reports, the man was seated in the upper tier of seats at the 90,000-capacity stadium. The highest seats at the stadium are located approximately 50 metres from the ground.

A representative for the Metropolitan Police on-site at the concert said, “A man – aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.”

In a statement, Oasis said of the tragedy, “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”

The evening’s special guest, Richard Ashcroft (of The Verve) fame, also commented on the awful incident, writing on Instagram: “It’s been an amazing five nights at Wembley however I was shocked to hear of the death of one of the audience last night sending my love to the family and friends, love and peace RA.”

A Wembley Stadium spokesperson added: “Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London ambulance service and the police attended to a concertgoer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall.

“Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers.”

During the show, Liam Gallagher dedicated their moving track Live Forever to “all the people who can’t be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean, and aren’t they looking lovely. Live Forever.”

Oasis had seven dates scheduled at London’s Wembley Stadium on their Live ’25 tour. After their show on Saturday, they were due to perform again on Sunday (3 August) before returning to the venue in late September, following a string of shows in Edinburgh, Dublin, Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Pasadena, and Mexico City.

From 31 October to 8 November, Oasis will perform five shows in Australia on their reunion tour, including three dates at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and two shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium. The Australian dates will see the Britpop heroes joined by local special guests Ball Park Music.
