More NSYNC More NSYNC

*NSYNC the boy band consisting of Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass are back with their first single in over 20 years, officially following up on Girlfriend (off their 2001 album Celebrity).

Yes, the frost-tipped ‘90s heartthrobs have returned with a track called Better Place, coming as part of the soundtrack for the upcoming movie Trolls Band Together. It brings that sweet bubblegum-pop energy they became famous for all those years ago.

While keeping in line with the *NSYNC tunes we know and love, Better Place also brings a fresh twist to the boy band’s repertoire with a Jamiroquai-esque disco beat that pulses throughout the track.

Prior to the single’s announcement earlier this month, speculation over a reunion began when posters were spotted across the US advertising the Trolls movie and featuring the *NSYNC logo. Those posters also included a QR code, taking fans to the website takeyoutoabetterplace.com which featured a catchy, whistled snippet to Better Place.

*NSYNC also reunited on stage for the first time in ten years at this month’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), and while they didn’t perform at the awards show, they did present Taylor Swift with the Best Pop award for Anti-Hero.

Accepting the award, a flustered Swift said (per Variety), “I’m not doing well pivoting from this to this [from being an *NSYNC fan to accepting an award]. Like, I had your [*NSYNC’s] dolls!”

The fivesome have also been sharing regular updates on Instagram, with JT posting a heartfelt video of the group back in the studio again on Instagram on the day of the track’s announcement.

In the caption, Timberlake wrote, “When the stars align… got my brothers back together in the studio to work on something fun and the energy was special. Better Place is coming 9/29 🙏🏻 LOVE Y’ALL.”
