More NSYNC More NSYNC

Iconic 90s and early 2000s boy band *NSYNC reunited on stage for the first time in ten years today at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The original five members – Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and JC Chasez presented the Best Pop award to “the unstoppable Taylor Swift” for Anti-Hero.

Accepting the award, Swift said, “I’m not doing well pivoting from this to this [from being an NSYNC fan to accepting an award],” per Variety. “Like, I had your [*NSYNC] dolls!”

Rumours around *NSYNC reuniting have swirled over the last week; however, that speculation gained steam once Timberlake, Fatone, and Bass were all seen in New York City on the lead-up to the award show.

Swift also acknowledged the rumours, adding, “Are you guys gonna do something? I need to know what it is!”

Other rumours suggest that the band will feature on the new, third Trolls movie, Trolls Band Together soundtrack – Timberlake will reprise his role voicing Branch in the animated film – marking the first new *NSYNC song since 2002 if the rumours are correct.

*NSYNC haven’t appeared on stage together since 2013 when Timberlake accepted his Video Vanguard Award, and the group performed a medley.

In 2019, Kirkpatrick, Bass, Fatone and Chasez joined Ariana Grande onstage, sans Justin Timberlake, and accompanied her for her tracks Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored and Tearin’ Up My Heart during her Coachella set.

In a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Timberlake opened up about the group going on hiatus in 2002.

“We were on a stadium tour, and I just felt like the whole thing was too big,” the pop star admitted.

“It started as a fun snowball fight that was becoming an avalanche. And also, I was growing out of it.

“I felt like I cared more about the music than some of the other people in the group. And I felt like I had other music I wanted to make and that I needed to follow my heart.”
