In early 2027, two titans of rock are teaming up for a massive Australian co-headline tour.

For the first time, Grammy Award-winning group Soul Asylum will tour alongside Everything About You hitmakers Ugly Kid Joe, bringing the co-headline run to our shores next March. The tour also marks the first time Soul Asylum have performed in Australia since the mid-1990s, and Ugly Kid Joe’s return following shows in 2017.

The tour begins at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Monday, 15 March. It continues at Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Wednesday, 17 March, Melbourne’s Forum on Thursday, 18 March, Sydney’s Roundhouse on Saturday, 20 March, and concludes at Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Sunday, 21 March.

Early bird pre-sale tickets will be available from Monday, 14 September, at 11 am local time – sign up here for access. The general sale opens on Wednesday, 16 September, at 11 am local time via the Destroy All Lines website.

Soul Asylum released their thirteenth and most recent album, Slowly but Shirley, in 2024; Ugly Kid Joe’s most recent album, Rad Wings of Destiny, arrived in 2022.

Both bands have enjoyed cultural impact, with Soul Asylum featuring on the soundtracks of cult-classic Kevin Smith films Chasing Amy and Clerks, and Ugly Kid Joe’s Everything About You featured on the 1992 flick, Wayne’s World.

Soul Asylum have shared the stage with Guns N’ Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, The Cure, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, and many others. In 1994, they took home the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song with their signature ballad, Runaway Train.

The early ‘90s were also a prosperous time for Ugly Kid Joe, who made history with their debut EP, As Ugly As They Wanna Be, which marked the first time that an EP was certified multi-Platinum by the RIAA.

Their debut album, America’s Least Wanted, was even more popular. The 1992 release was spearheaded by a cover of Harry Chapin’s folk number, Cat’s in the Cradle, which Ugly Kid Joe transformed into a full-blown rock track. After disbanding in the late ‘90s, the band reunited in 2010 and have continued to tour and release music.
