It's only one date, but it'd be worth travelling for

More Bluesfest More Bluesfest

Byron Bay Bluesfest 2015 favourite Nikki Hill is all set to make her return to the festival's stage next year, and the inimitable, in-demand songstress has just announced a single sideshow date to sate those that can't make it to the event.

Hill will ride the considerable buzz that has surrounded her for the past few years to a headline show at Newtown Social Club concurrent with the end of the festival, ensuring punters in Sydney are still able to feel a part of the Bluesfest celebrations even as they party on a few hundred kilometres away from ground zero.

That said, they mightn't find themselves alone — the North Caroline-bred Hill is a talent worth travelling to see, so we wouldn't be surprised if a few people deem her as being deserving of a road trip; she has, after all, enjoyed a remarkable ascent since landing with style in the ears of discerning listeners around the world with her 2012 self-titled EP.

She went on to release her debut full-length, Here's Nikki Hill, in 2013, and last year put out its rip-roaring follow-up, Heavy Hearts, Hard Fists, which sees Hills distinctive and powerful vocals sit comfortably as the centrepiece atop a gospel-rock band of preternaturally talented players spearheaded by guitarist (and Nikki's husband) Matt Hill.

The sum result is a simply electrifying experience steeped in "late nights, hot licks and intoxicating love" and, if that sounds like your kind of jam, you should make sure you're at the front of the line when tickets go on sale at 10am (AEDT) this Wednesday, 26 October, via Bluesfest Touring.

The 28th Byron Bay Bluesfest will be held at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm from 13-17 April 2017.
