Last week, tour promoters Destroy All Lines announced the inaugural Hellbound cruise, the first-ever cruise to feature heavy metal music in Australia.

Hellbound will sail from Darling Harbour, Sydney, from Thursday, 22 October, to Sunday, 25 October, in 2026. The line-up is set to be shared soon, with organisers advising punters to comment #hellbound on social media to receive a direct message with a link to register for more information.

Yesterday (23 April), more information was revealed. The host ship for the multi-day event will be the Carnival Splendor, which will offer plenty of delights to metalheads across the country.

Carnival Splendor sports 13,000 tonnes of steel and sound, perfect for being home to 2,500 metal-loving passengers next year. The cruise ship also contains 14 decks of non-stop madness, with the main stage located on the top deck so punters can “mosh under the stars.”

Punters will also be able to access 24 lounges and bars and enjoy seven hot tubs, mini golf, water slides, and more – all of which have been revealed before the line-up drops.

Destroy All Lines is best known for promoting festivals such as Good Things and Knotfest, as well as bringing metal, punk, and other alternative tours to Australia.

For the Hellbound cruise, however, the promoters have teamed up with Rock The Boat and Choose Your Cruise, the latter an Australian-owned and operated company that has been presenting floating festivals to punters since 2009.

Rock The Boat, meanwhile, has locked in two huge at-sea events for 2025, one featuring Jimmy Barnes and James Reyne, while the other stars Suzi Quatro, Baby Animals, Jon Stevens, and more.

The concept of metal and rock music on a cruise ship isn’t all that new – the US has hosted events such as Shiprocked, while Lamb Of God have presented Headbangers Boat, and Paramore have hosted their own cruise called Parahoy.
