Young Statues have signed with Boston, MA’s Run For Cover Records. The band, led by songwriter/vocalist Carmen Cirignano, will release its self-titled debut CD/LP/Digital release on November 8, 2011. In the winter of 2010, a spontaneous trip to Athens, GA became the birth of New Jersey/Philadelphia indie-rock outfit Young Statues. The record first began to take shape at Chase Park Transduction Studios, where a series of songs were recorded between friends, songs that were initially never intended to be released. Intrigued by the results of these sessions, songwriter and vocalist Carmen Cirignano decided to continue working on them with longtime producer and engineer Steve Poponi at the Gradwell House in Haddon Heights, NJ. It was here, with the help of bassist Tom Ryan and drummer Daniel Bogan, that these songs were transformed into the impressive debut record for a band comprised of longtime friends in the Philadelphia area music scene. Explosions In The Sky announce Australian tour
Instrumental Texan quartet Explosions In The Sky return to Australia this December with their powerfully intense live show. Equal parts romance and tragedy, their beautiful melodies have the tendency to ignite into head-spinning walls of noise. Made up of Mark Smith, Michael James and Munaf Rayani on guitars and Christopher Hrasky on drums, Explosions In The Sky signed to Temporary Residence Limited in 2000 after one listen to their demo, which was submitted by Texan allies the American Analog Set with a note simply stating "This totally fucking destroys." The band have since released seven albums, the latest being Take Care, Take Care, Take Care, described by the BBC as an ”eye-opening surge of splendour, like the first gasp of a newborn baby taking in the world for the very first time.” In addition to the already announced Meredith Music Festival, Explosions In The Sky will bring their epically moving and inspiring show to the Forum in Melbourne, The Metro in Sydney and The Hi F...

The Contortionist announce Australian tour
Bottom heavy open chords that resonate strong enough to shake the core of the earth. Skyrocketing bursts of oscillating guitar leads layer an ominous and dark undercurrent of rhythm. While hardcore punk may be the sound that rules the day in The Contortionist hometown of Indianapolis, it is the band’s signature brand of forward thinking heavy metal that has made them stick out as hometown favourites. The Contortionist brand new album, titled ‘Exoplanet’, is a progressive metal mammoth. Featuring bursts of space and atmosphere, underscored by intense sonic emotion and boldness. For every bit of progression and aura the band offers up on ‘Exoplanet’, comes an equal and unforgiving onslaught of heaviness. Just when heavy metal had seemed to reach a ceiling on how punishing a sound could get, The Contortionist raise the bar even higher. National support comes in the form of Newcastle’s The Storm Picturesque, a metal powerhouse moving from strength to strength. An unfaltering work ethic ...
