The Meredith Music Festival and Golden Plains have reminded festival-goes of their 'No Dickheads' policy as they admit 18 people will face court this month over trying to access the festival without a ticket.
Ahead of Meredith 2013, which will take place Friday 13 – Sunday 15 December, promoter 'Aunty Meredith' issued a statement today to discourage anyone thinking of jumping the fence this year.
“People who have been caught trespassing have begged not to be charged as a criminal conviction wipes out employment prospects and in many cases can have them removed from current employment,” it read.
The 18 people charged at previous events are due to appear in Geelong Magistrates Court this month. The maximum penalty for trespass is 2,750 or six months imprisonment.
The festival said that in the hardline approach was in response to issues including personal injury and bushfire risks, including the blocking of access roads and gates by vehicles.
Taking place at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, the infamous 'No Dickheads' policy extends to sister festival Golden Plains. Read it here.
Chic featuring Nile Rogers, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Melvins and more will play Meredith this year, while Public Enemy, You Am I, Neko Case and more are booked for Golden Plains.
