Everyone from Geoffrey Rush to Oren Ambarchi have picked up a nomination.
Nominations for Melbourne's premier arts awards, the Green Room Awards have been announced this afternoon, with a wide and varied array of the city's most well respect arts talent given recognition in the lead up to the ceremony in May.
Lisa McCune received a nom for South Pacific and Geoffrey Rush for A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, which has eight nominations in the Music Theatre Category. It is closely followed by Chess and A Chorus Line.
In theatre The Wild Duck (five noms) and On The Misconception of Oedipus (six noms) are the big players; both were shown at The Malthouse. Read our interview with director Matt Lutton about Oedipus:
Alison Bell is nominated for Best Female Actor for Tribes up against Natasha Herbert for On The Misconception of Oedipus, Ruth Sancho Hurerga for Blood Wedding, Erin Jean Norvill for Top Girls and Helen Thompson for Summer of the Seventeenth Doll

Ewen Leslie and Anthony Phelan are both nominated for Best Male actor for their performances in The Wild Duck. Colin Friels is nominated for his portrayal of Mark Rothko in Red, as is Darren Gilshennin for Elling and Richard Pyros On The Misconception of Oedipus.

MKA dominates the Best Female Performer Independent Category, with four of the five nominations appearing in MKA 2012 productions.
Well respected experimental composer Oren Ambarchi is nominated for his work on Weather in the sound and music category up against My Friend The Chocolate Cake's Helen Mountford.
This year's awards ceremony will be held on Monday 6 May at the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne.
