South Australian music’s night of nights, the SA Music Awards, took place tonight.
Singer aleksiah and hip-hop group Dem Mob won big at a ceremony held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Theatre. Presented by MusicSA, the state’s extraordinary talent, creativity, and achievement were celebrated across the award ceremony and performances.
Taking home four awards apiece, aleksiah and Dem Mob won in the Major, Industry, and People’s Choice categories. Notably, aleksiah also won four awards at last year’s ceremony. This time, she won Best Song (Clothes Off), Best Solo Artist, Best Release (for her EP Cry About It), and the People’s Choice Pop Award.
First Nations hip-hop group Dem Mob have now won ten SA Music Awards in just three years – five in 2023, one in 2024, and four this year – winning Best Regional Artist, Best Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Artist, Best Music Educator, and the People’s Choice Hip-Hop Award.
In addition to aleksiah and Dem Mob, Oscar The Wild and Ella Ion each claimed two awards. The former won Best Group and the People’s Choice Rock Award, while the latter won the Best New Artist and People’s Choice Folk Award. The Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival also won two awards: Best Large Music Festival and Best Regional Music Venue, Festival or Music Event (for its Limestone Coast Beer & BBQ Festival).
Other winners included effie isobel, Lion Arts Factory, TOWNS, LOLA, and more. You can see the full list of winners below.
