Local Acts Storm The ARIA Albums Chart This Week

Numerous Aussie artists debut in the ARIA Albums chart Top 10!

In news to hopefully lift your mood to the max, it's a huge week on the ARIA Albums chart for Aussie artists, with Melbourne future soul legends Hiatus Kaiyote debuting at #4 with their scintillating third album Mood Valiant.

Marking the jazz-funk quartet's first full-length release in six years, Mood Valiant provides a fearless follow-up to their 2015 smash Choose Your Weapon, which peaked at number #22 on the Australian chart at the time.

Mood Valiant is the band's first-ever Top 10 debut and is the highest-ranking Aussie release on the ARIA Albums chart this week.

Meanwhile, fellow locals The Veronicas snagged #5 for their gentler glossy pop work on Human and Melbourne garage rockers The Murlocs swept in at #6 with their fifth album, Bittersweet Demons

For The Veronicas, it's the pair's second appearance in the Top 10 in the space of a few short months, following their #7 peak for the slightly more acerbic bops on Godzilla released back in May this year.

Bittersweet Demons marks the first time The Murlocs have cracked the Top 10, following their 2017 album Old Locomotive hitting #15, and 2019's Manic Candid Episode sweeping into #16.

Still in Albums territory, Olivia Rodrigo holds onto #1 for the sixth week in a row.

And as for what's shaking over on the Singles chart? As predicted, Ed Sheeran claims his sixth chart-topping single in Australia, debuting at #1 with Bad Habits, aka Sheeran's take on a post-pandemic club tune.
