Summer in the city has never looked better
In line with the return of the sun and the pique in bright, celebratory moods as the holidays approach, the City of Adelaide has announced that Music in the Square is back.
Taking place on Friday, November 29th, this free, inclusive community event boasts a stellar line-up of locally celebrated artists, who will be dazzling audiences amidst the charming setting of Hindmarsh Square from 4:30 to 7:30.
The City of Adelaide’s announcement reveals that the three up-and-coming acts performing will be Ella Ion, effie isobel, and Swapmeet.
Ella Ion is a performer that somehow manages to be both heartbreaking and controlled. With muscular vocal chops and songwriting talent that follows in the footsteps of folk legends such as Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, Ion is the perfect act to usher in summer in the city.

effie isobel, who refers to their music as “bubble grunge,” boasts a kaleidoscopic sound and a dreamy aesthetic. Blushing singles like Peach Heart have garnered them the deserved loyalty of the Adelaide music scene. Listening to their music is reminiscent of the hazy, hypnotic state of being absolutely consumed by a crush.
Triumphant indie four-piece Swapmeet are still fresh off the success of their SA Music Award wins. The beloved local band has developed a cult following, a devoted fan base who can’t get enough of their intoxicating, giddy live stage presence and their stunning melodies couched in expert instrumentation. There will be no better place to witness the band play live than in Hindmarsh Square as the sun sets over the city and spring draws to a close.
Food and drink options will also be available in tandem to the stunning live music. Expect to be wined and dined by some of the best establishments that Adelaide has to offer, including Loc, Le Pas Sage, The Griffings, PARC, and Carton Deli.
All are encouraged to attend this free, exciting city event.
