After reaching #2 on triple j’s Hottest 100 with his hit single, Dancing2, the long-awaited release of Keli Holiday’s new album, Capital Fiction, has seen him achieve his greatest mainstream success to date.

Capital Fiction was released last Friday (13 February). Preceded by the singles Dancing2 and Ecstasy, the album follows Holiday’s 2022 debut album, KELI, and his EP Jesterman, released in 2024. And now, it’s been revealed that Capital Fiction has made a significant splash on the ARIA Charts.

First off, Keli Holiday – the solo project of Peking Duk’s Adam Hyde – has achieved his first #1 on an Albums Chart, topping the Australian Albums Chart. On the overall Albums Chart, he’s come in at #3, behind Man I Need hitmaker Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving at #1 and Ed Sheeran – currently touring Australia – at #2 with Play.

Capital Fiction also landed at #5 on the Vinyl Albums Chart. It’s an impressive feat for any Australian artist, but even more so when said artist is independent. With Peking Duk, Hyde previously reached the charts with Reprisal, which peaked at #12 in 2018.

Joining Holiday in the top five of the Australian Albums Chart are Karnivool’s In Verses, Kylie Minogue’s Tension Tour//Live 2025, Joji’s Piss In The Wind, and The Kid LAROI’s BEFORE I FORGET.

Reacting to his new album reaching #1 on the Australian Albums Chart, Hyde shared an ecstatic video on Instagram. He captioned the clip, “CAPITAL FICTION IS #1 HOLY FKN HELL THANK YOU everyone who supports music whether it’s mine or anyone’s. you make the world beautiful. I love you.”

In a recent interview with The Music, Hyde commented on his devotion to the Keli Holiday project, revealing that he’s “willing to die” to make great songs.

“It’s really got to hold its own, and that means a lot of work. I’m willing to die for this, you know?” he said. “I’m not making beats anymore. I’m not sitting there tinkering around with snare drums. I don’t care about that shit anymore. I just want to sit down and write the bones of a song that’ll make the hairs on your arm stand up, you know? That, to me, that’s everything.”

Holiday will be embarking on a national tour in support of his debut album next month. Tickets to those shows are on sale now.
