Adelaide Festival Centre's star-studded initiative is one step closer to a reality
For years Adelaide Festival Centre has been key in maintaining the state's vibrant scene, and now the venue is one step closer to it’s Walk Of Fame initiative becoming a reality, naming Kate Ceberano and Barry Humphries among the first to be honoured.
The program will see various artists who have taken to the Adelaide Festival Centre stage over the years recognised for their contribution to the booming festival state, with Ceberano one of the public and critics’ star recipients for her 2009 effort, Kate Ceberano: Love & the Bottom Line, while Aussie icon Humphries is being commemorated for his 1979 show A Night With Dame Edna And A Handful Of Cobbers.
Former Adelaide Cabaret Festival artistic director, Ceberano said she was “seriously chuffed” to have the recognition written in stone.
“I'm thrilled that in my lifetime as a performing artist, as a festival director, I feel that I've contributed to the arts and to this wonderful State,” she said.

Between public voting and the critics’ choice allocation – selected by a panel of experts including Adelaide’s Matt Gilbertson and Performing Arts Collection veteran Jo Peoples - two stars for each year between the venue opening (1973) and 2015 have been selected.
Each following year will then be selected by the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust in conjunction with public voting.
Other names on the list include Nick Cave, Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Tim Minchin.
Adelaide Festival Centre was the country’s first capital city arts centre and hosts more than 980,000 punters across 1,800 each year.
