Plus Lorde has shot at Singles #1
Perth prog rock outfit Karnivool are tracking towards a number one album next week, according to midweek figures.
Their new record Asymmetry is the strongest local release of the week but it'll have to topple Pink's latest album The Truth About Love, which is currently number one thanks to her enormous arena tour. Karnivool's last album, Sound Awake, was their only previous chart impact, having debuted at two in June 2009.
The only other new releases which are troubling the scorers are the studio album from Disney star Selena Gomez, Stars Dance, and country star John Williamson's new compilation, A Hell Of A Career.
Albums by artists on the Splendour In The Grass bill, including Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters & Men, Frank Ocean and Bernard Fanning are expected to receive spikes as they play shows in the lead-up to the festival.

New Zealand rising star Lorde, who we've been tracking for a while now both here and in the US, appears to have a shot at the top spot of the ARIA Singles Chart this week. The 16-year-old is currently at four with her The Love Club EP (Royals), behind Avicii's Wake Me Up (currently one), OneRepublic's Counting Stars (two) and Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, featuring T.I. and Pharrell (three). The release of Thicke's album will give his single legs, while Miley Cyrus's We Can't Stop will round out the top five – whichever order it is in.
Further down midweek figures are showing rises from MKTO's Classic (currently 18), Ellie Goulding's Burn (14) and Karmin's Acapella (17). The Collective and Jessica Mauboy will enter the top 50 with new tracks, as well.
