Of Monsters And Men On Their Expansive Career & The Music Industry: "I Can Really See How Bizarre A Lot Of It Is"

French Duo Justice Hit Justin Bieber With Cease & Desist Over New Album

"Your use of the Mark is illegal."

Justin Bieber has been issued with a cease and desist by electro heavyweights Justice over the artwork for the Canadian singer's new album, Justice, out today.

As Pitchfork reports, the album artwork was criticised when it was revealed last month, due to the similarity of the 't' in Justice being a cross, which the French duo have used as their logo for some time.

In a letter sent to Bieber's team on 10 March, Justice's litigation counsel claim they trademarked the font, referred to as the "mark" in 2008.

“Your use of the Mark is illegal,” the letter reads.

“You have not received permission from Justice to utilize the Mark. Moreover, Bieber’s work is in no way affiliated with, supported by, or sponsored by Justice. Such use of the mark is not only illegal, but likely to deceive and confuse costumers.”

The letter asks that Bieber and his team “cease and deist any and all uses of Justice’s Mark in any and all personal and business endeavors, including but not limited to [his] Album and social media".

Bieber is yet to publicly respond.
