Jimmy Barnes has expanded his highly anticipated For The Working Class Man 40th anniversary tour, today announcing a show as part of the On The Steps series at the iconic Sydney Opera House Forecourt.

Taking place on Wednesday, 10 December, with special guest Kate Ceberano, the show arrives amid a stack of outdoor concerts across the country in celebration of Barnes’ iconic album.

The Working Class Man tour begins on Saturday, 22 November, at the Mount Duneed Estate, Geelong VIC, followed by Sirromet Wines, Mount Cotton QLD on Saturday, 29 November; Bimbadgen, Hunter Valley NSW on Saturday, 6 December; The Regatta Grounds, Hobart TAS on Saturday, 17 January; Peter Lehmann Wines, Barossa Valley, SA on Saturday, 31 January; and concludes at Sandalford Wines, Swan Valley WA on Saturday, 7 February.

“For The Working Class Man was such a significant album in my life,” Barnes said. “I got to make the record with some amazing people, and it really set up the rest of my solo career. I’m so excited to be celebrating For The Working Class Man at the Opera House with my dear friend Kate Ceberano. It’s going to be a very special night.”

The general sale opens next Thursday (21 August), and pre-sales open on Monday (18 August).

Telstra Plus members can access pre-sale tickets from Monday, 18 August, at 10 am local time during a 48-hour pre-sale (or until pre-sale allocation is exhausted).

MG Live, Face To Face, and Jimmy Barnes fan club members can access pre-sale tickets on Wednesday, 20 August, at 12 pm local time, followed by the general sale on Thursday, 21 August, at 2 pm local time via the Sydney Opera House website and Ticketmaster.

In addition to the tour, For The Working Class Man will be celebrated by Mushroom Music, which will be releasing a special 40th anniversary edition of the record. The 40th anniversary edition of the album will be released on Friday, 14 November, and can be pre-ordered here.

Newly remastered for the anniversary, fans will be able to purchase the album as a 2LP “flame” coloured vinyl in a gatefold jacket. The singles will also be sold as an exclusive limited-edition box set of coloured 7”s, and for the fans who don’t collect vinyl, the 40th anniversary album will be sold on CD and cassette.
